Walter Baddoo is a Co-Founder and Managing Partner of 4DX Ventures. He brings over two decades of global finance and investing experience, with deep capital markets expertise and a proven track record of helping early-stage investment platforms scale and institutionalize. Under his leadership, 4DX has attracted support from leading development finance institutions and global asset managers committed to long-term growth across emerging markets.
Before founding 4DX, Walter spent a decade at Morgan Stanley in the Institutional Equity Group’s Prime Brokerage division, working across New York and San Francisco. He advised some of the most sophisticated hedge funds launched in the post-2008 era, including long/short equity, quantitative, and multi-strategy firms, on capital formation, infrastructure, and strategic growth. He also helped build Morgan Stanley’s Canadian Prime Brokerage business from the ground up. As head of West Coast business development, he worked closely with several of the top technology-focused hedge funds and asset managers, deepening his sectoral insight and reinforcing his conviction in technology as a long-term driver of structural change.
Walter began his finance career early, interning as a teenager at Credit Suisse in Structured Products and Interest Rate Derivatives, and at Banc of America Securities in Investment Banking (Industrials) and Prime Brokerage. He was recruited as a sophomore into Morgan Stanley’s elite Equities Analyst program.
His experience operating at the intersection of economic development and global capital markets gives him a differentiated lens on risk, value creation, and scale across emerging ecosystems.
Born and raised in Accra, Ghana, Walter is passionate about backing technology founders transforming Africa’s informal and underserved markets. He holds a B.A. in International Relations with a concentration in Economic Development from Tufts University and studied Art History at the Sorbonne in Paris. Outside of work, he blends modern architecture and contemporary African design to create thoughtful, cross-cultural design spaces.
